Slidgigtinstituttet

Slidgigtinstituttet (The Osteoarthritis Institute) was a Danish clinical research institute and specialized clinic based in Ishøj, Denmark, that focused on the study and treatment of osteoarthritis. Founded and led by rheumatologist Keld Østergaard, the institute was primarily active in the early to mid-2000s, conducting clinical research on the efficacy of various therapeutic interventions for joint diseases. The institute gained recognition for its clinical trials on dietary supplements and over-the-counter treatments, most notably glucosamine sulphate, ginger, and avocado-soya unsaponifiables. These studies often evaluated the impact of these substances on chronic joint pain and metabolic markers like blood cholesterol levels. While the institute served as a key site for post-marketing Phase 4 studies in collaboration with partners like Pharma Nord, its research activity has significantly decreased in recent years.
