SLIL Biomedical

SLIL Biomedical was a biotechnology company focused on developing novel therapeutics for cancer and other proliferative diseases using its proprietary polyamine analogue technology. Formed in 1998 through the merger of Sequential Medical Corp. and S'LIL Pharmaceuticals, the company specialized in small molecule compounds that disrupt polyamine metabolism, a critical pathway for tumor cell growth. Its lead candidates, including SL-11047 (later PG-11047), were designed to deplete intracellular polyamines and induce apoptosis in various solid tumors. In 2004, SLIL Biomedical was acquired by CuraGen Corporation, which further advanced the polyamine program into clinical trials. The company's research was heavily based on the work of Dr. Raymond J. Bergeron and Dr. Michael McGrath.
