Slotervaartziekenhuis

Slotervaartziekenhuis, commonly known as MC Slotervaart, was a prominent general hospital located in Amsterdam, Netherlands, that operated from 1975 until its bankruptcy in 2018. The institution gained international recognition for its specialized hospital pharmacy, which was uniquely licensed to produce medicinal heroin and methadone for the Dutch national addiction treatment program. Beyond general healthcare, the hospital was involved in clinical research and the development of orphan drugs for rare metabolic diseases. In 2006, it became the first hospital in the Netherlands to be privatized when it was acquired by private investors. However, following years of financial instability under the MC Group, the hospital officially declared bankruptcy in October 2018 and ceased all clinical operations.
