Smart Choice MRI was a healthcare services company that specialized in providing high-quality magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans at a transparent, flat-rate price. Founded in 2006 and headquartered in Chicago, the company aimed to disrupt the traditional diagnostic imaging market by offering consumer-friendly, retail-oriented clinics where scans cost $600 or less. At its peak, the company operated multiple locations across the Midwest and formed strategic partnerships with major health systems like ThedaCare and UCHealth. Despite significant venture capital backing and a disruptive business model, Smart Choice MRI ceased all operations and closed its clinics in early 2020.
