Company intelligence / Profile preview
Snia S.p.A. was a prominent Italian industrial conglomerate that played a major role in the healthcare and life sciences sectors during the 20th century. Through its subsidiary Snia Biomedica, the company was a global leader in medical technology, particularly in the development of artificial heart valves, oxygenators, and hemodialysis equipment. Its pharmaceutical interests included the development of specialized drugs through subsidiaries like Crinos and Bioresearch, notably contributing to the early development of defibrotide. Although the company entered extraordinary administration and was eventually liquidated in the early 2010s, its legacy continues through its spun-off entities, most notably Sorin Group, which is now part of LivaNova.
