SnowBrand Pharmaceuticals

Snow Brand Pharmaceuticals was the pharmaceutical division and later a subsidiary of the Japanese dairy giant Snow Brand Milk Products Co., Ltd. The company specialized in biopharmaceutical research, focusing on recombinant proteins and therapies for bone metabolism, hematology, and oncology. It was a pioneer in the Japanese biotech sector, successfully developing and commercializing products such as erythropoietin and G-CSF. In 2001, following a major corporate restructuring of its parent company, Snow Brand Pharmaceuticals was acquired by Nippon Kayaku. The company's legacy continues through its foundational research in bone biology and the subsequent formation of the biosimilar-focused firm Gene Techno Science by its former researchers.
