SOCPRA is the former name associated with the Universite de Sherbrooke's technology transfer and research commercialization activities, now operating under the name TransferTech Sherbrooke. The organization commercializes intellectual property and inventions generated by researchers at the Universite de Sherbrooke and affiliated research centers across multiple sectors, including health, life sciences, engineering, and advanced technologies. In healthcare, it has acted as a licensor of university-originated assets such as novel mRNA biomarkers for colorectal cancer screening and drug-device delivery technologies. Rather than developing a proprietary clinical pipeline like a traditional biotech, SOCPRA functions as an IP commercialization and partnering organization that helps move academic innovations toward industry licensing, startup formation, and commercial deployment.
