Solarant Medical was a medical technology company focused on developing minimally invasive solutions for women's health, specifically targeting stress urinary incontinence (SUI). The company developed the Renessa System, a transurethral radiofrequency (RF) energy device designed to treat SUI in an office-based setting. By delivering controlled heat to the collagen in the bladder neck and proximal urethra, the system triggered a natural healing response that firmed the tissue and reduced leakage. The Renessa procedure offered a non-surgical alternative to traditional suburethral slings, requiring no incisions or general anesthesia. In 2004, Solarant Medical was acquired by American Medical Systems (AMS) to bolster its portfolio of pelvic health treatments.
