SOLIQS is a specialized drug delivery unit of AbbVie, primarily focused on improving the solubility and bioavailability of challenging drug candidates. Based in Ludwigshafen, Germany, the company is the developer of the proprietary Meltrex technology, a leading hot-melt extrusion platform for creating solid molecular dispersions. This technology has been successfully applied to several major commercial products, most notably the HIV protease inhibitors Kaletra and Norvir, as well as the BCL-2 inhibitor Venclexta. Originally established within BASF's pharmaceutical arm (Knoll), the unit was acquired by Abbott in 2001 and later became part of AbbVie during its 2013 spin-off.
