SoloPep

SoloPep is an Irish respiratory medical device spinout from the University of Limerick that developed a disposable oscillating positive expiratory pressure (OPEP) airway-clearance device. The product was designed to reduce infection risk associated with reusable mucus-clearance devices by eliminating the need for repeated cleaning. The device was clinically investigated in cystic fibrosis and COPD cohorts and was also described for use in bronchiectasis. SoloPep progressed from university concept to market launch and was acquired in 2020 by an unnamed Irish multinational respiratory medical device company. The legal entity Solopep Limited still appears active in Irish corporate records.
