Solvay Biosciences

Solvay Biosciences was a pharmaceutical and life sciences subsidiary of the Belgian multinational Solvay Group, primarily operating in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. The company was responsible for the development, marketing, and distribution of a diverse range of healthcare products, with a strong focus on neuroscience, vaccines, and cardiometabolic health. Key products in its portfolio included the Parkinson's disease treatment Duodopa and the influenza vaccine Influvac. In 2010, the Solvay Group sold its entire pharmaceutical division, including the Solvay Biosciences entities, to Abbott Laboratories for approximately €4.5 billion ($6.2 billion). Following the acquisition, the business was integrated into Abbott's global pharmaceutical operations, and the Solvay Biosciences name was largely phased out.
