Somerset Pharmaceuticals (originally founded as Somerset Laboratories) was a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of therapies for central nervous system (CNS) disorders. The company is most notable for its work on selegiline, producing Eldepryl for Parkinson's disease and Emsam, the first transdermal patch approved for the treatment of major depressive disorder. Established as a joint venture between Mylan and Watson Pharmaceuticals, Somerset leveraged specialized drug delivery technologies to enhance the efficacy of established compounds. Following the successful commercialization of its lead products, the company's assets were integrated into the portfolios of its parent organizations.
