Somos Therapeutics

Somos Therapeutics was a biotechnology company focused on the development of engineered extracellular vesicles (EVs) for the delivery of therapeutic payloads. Founded by a team of prominent MIT researchers, including Robert Langer, Sangeeta Bhatia, and Daniel Anderson, the company aimed to harness the natural communication properties of EVs to transport proteins and nucleic acids to specific tissues. In October 2020, Somos Therapeutics was merged with three other Flagship Pioneering companies—Kintai Therapeutics, Entrega, and Mytos Therapeutics—to form Senda Biosciences. This merger integrated Somos's EV platform into a broader intersystems biology approach. Senda Biosciences subsequently merged with Laronde in 2023 to form Sail Biomedicines, where the legacy of Somos's technology continues to be developed.
