Company intelligence / Profile preview
Sonoma Orthopedic Products developed proprietary minimally-invasive intramedullary rod systems for the treatment of extremity bone fractures. Their devices allowed flexible rods to be inserted through small incisions with minimal disruption to surrounding tissue; once positioned inside the bone canal, the rods could be made rigid and locked in place using proprietary talon mechanisms. Clinical data demonstrated lower complication rates compared to traditional surgical plating—including fewer infections and secondary surgeries—enabling faster recovery for patients. The company’s products were used commercially prior to its acquisition by Arthrex in June 2017.
