Overview
Southern BioSystems was acquired in 2001 by DURECT Corporation. It specialized in developing and manufacturing controlled-release drug delivery systems, including the patented SABER depot system, microspheres, and drug-loaded implants. These technologies have been used for human and veterinary pharmaceuticals, and SBS supplied biodegradable polymers for FDA-approved products.
