Southern Maine Health Care (SMHC) is a comprehensive, non-profit healthcare system serving the residents of southern York County, Maine. As a member of the MaineHealth system, SMHC operates a full-service medical center in Biddeford and a healthcare center in Sanford, complemented by a large network of primary care and multi-specialty physician practices. The organization provides a wide array of medical services, including emergency care, surgical services, cancer care, maternity, and diagnostics. SMHC was officially formed in 2014 through the merger of Southern Maine Medical Center and Goodall Hospital to create a unified regional provider. In 2019, it further integrated into the MaineHealth unified ownership model to enhance clinical coordination across the state.
