Southwest Research Institute

Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) is an independent nonprofit contract research organization providing multidisciplinary R&D services—including pharmaceutical development and biologics manufacturing—to government and industry clients worldwide. It offers CGMP facilities for small molecule synthesis, biologics production (including cell/gene therapies), vaccine manufacture, medical device prototyping/testing, analytical method development, regulatory support services, tissue engineering expertise, and more. The institute does not develop its own pipeline of therapeutics but enables sponsors’ drug/device candidates to progress from concept through preclinical studies into early-phase clinical trials by supplying process development expertise and GMP materials. Recent expansions include a new Clinical Supply Facility supporting stem cells/vaccines/small molecules for trials.
