Company intelligence / Profile preview
South West Ventures Fund (SWVF) is a regional venture capital fund based in the South West of England, established in 2002 as part of the UK government's Regional Venture Capital Fund initiative. Originally managed by YFM Equity Partners and currently managed by Technology Venture Partners (TVP), the fund provides risk capital to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with high growth potential in sectors such as life sciences, medical technology, and electronics. Its notable life science portfolio includes companies like binx health (formerly Atlas Genetics), which develops point-of-care molecular diagnostics, and Micrima, a developer of radiowave-based breast cancer screening technology. The fund was designed to address the 'equity gap' for regional businesses and has invested in over 30 companies since its inception. Although the fund is now fully invested and in its harvest phase, it remains an active legal entity focused on supporting its remaining portfolio companies toward successful exits.
