SOVAR

SOVAR (Société de valorisation des applications de la recherche) was a Quebec-based technology transfer and valorization organization dedicated to commercializing research from Université Laval and its affiliated health centers. The company provided intellectual property management, seed funding, and business development expertise to transform academic discoveries into viable commercial products, particularly in the life sciences and medtech sectors. SOVAR was instrumental in launching numerous startups and licensing technologies to global pharmaceutical and medical device companies. In April 2021, SOVAR was merged with Aligo Innovation and Univalor to form Axelys, a centralized provincial agency for research commercialization in Quebec. During its operation, it managed a diverse portfolio of innovations ranging from novel therapeutics to advanced diagnostic tools.
