Company intelligence / Profile preview
Specialty BioSystems was a California-based engineering firm that specialized in high-purity process systems and aseptic transfer technologies for the biopharmaceutical industry. The company was best known for its Bio-Safe product line, which provided innovative solutions for the sterile transfer of fluids and components in cleanroom environments. These technologies were critical for maintaining sterility in the production of biologics and other sensitive pharmaceutical products. In December 2006, Specialty BioSystems was acquired by Sartorius Stedim Biotech, a global leader in bioprocessing equipment. The acquisition allowed Sartorius to integrate the Bio-Safe technology into its comprehensive single-use portfolio, enhancing its offerings for aseptic fluid management. Today, the legacy of Specialty BioSystems lives on through the continued use of its transfer systems in global drug manufacturing.
