Spinal Concepts was a medical technology company that specialized in the development of spinal fixation systems and implants for the treatment of spinal disorders. Founded in 1996 and headquartered in Austin, Texas, the company became a leader in the spinal device market with products like the InFix interbody fusion system and the Pathfinder minimally invasive pedicle screw system. These innovations focused on improving surgical precision and patient recovery times in complex spinal procedures. In June 2003, the company was acquired by Abbott Laboratories for approximately $170 million in cash, forming the basis of the Abbott Spine division. The business was subsequently sold by Abbott to Zimmer Holdings in 2008 for $360 million.
