Spine Motion

Spine Motion was a medical device company focused on the development of motion-preservation technologies for the treatment of spinal disorders. The company's primary products included the Kineflex|L lumbar artificial disc and the Kineflex|C cervical artificial disc. These devices were designed to provide an alternative to traditional spinal fusion by maintaining natural segment mobility in patients with degenerative disc disease. The implants featured a metal-on-metal design intended to mimic the natural movement of the spine. In 2008, Spine Motion was acquired by Zimmer Holdings (now Zimmer Biomet) for an initial payment of $80 million. This acquisition significantly bolstered Zimmer's portfolio in the non-fusion spinal implant market.
