Spine Next

Spine Next was a French medical device company that specialized in the development of innovative spinal implants and motion-preservation technologies. The company is best known for its Wallis interspinous spacer, a dynamic stabilization system designed to treat degenerative disc disease without the need for rigid fusion. Founded in 1999 and based in Bordeaux, France, Spine Next focused on providing surgical solutions that maintain spinal mobility and reduce adjacent segment degeneration. In 2004, the company was acquired by Abbott Laboratories for approximately $60 million to expand its Abbott Spine division. The Spine Next portfolio eventually became part of Zimmer Biomet following Abbott's divestiture of its spinal business in 2008.
