Company intelligence / Profile preview
SpinX Technologies was a Swiss biotechnology company that pioneered programmable microfluidic systems for laboratory automation and drug discovery. The company developed a unique 'lab-on-a-chip' platform that utilized laser-induced liquid handling to manipulate nanoliter-scale droplets on a disposable plastic disc. This technology, known as the Virtual Reaction Chamber (VRC), allowed for the miniaturization and automation of complex biochemical assays, such as high-throughput screening and PCR, without the need for traditional pumps or valves. By significantly reducing reagent consumption and processing time, the SpinX platform aimed to streamline the drug development process for pharmaceutical companies. Despite its innovative approach and backing from prominent venture capital firms, the company ceased operations in the early 2010s.
