Company intelligence / Profile preview
Spotlight Therapeutics was a biotechnology company focused on developing a new class of cell-targeted in vivo CRISPR gene editing biologics. The company's proprietary TAGE (Targeted Active Gene Editors) platform was designed to deliver CRISPR effectors directly to selected cell types in vivo, circumventing the need for viral vectors or lipid nanoparticles. Its pipeline primarily addressed intracellular gene targets in immuno-oncology, as well as monogenic diseases of the eye and blood. Despite significant backing from prominent investors like GV and Leaps by Bayer, the company ceased operations in early 2025 following disappointing preclinical results in its ophthalmology programs.
