Sprinkles Global Health Initiative

The Sprinkles Global Health Initiative (SGHI) is a non-profit organization and social enterprise based at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto, focused on combating micronutrient malnutrition in infants and children. The initiative's core product, "Sprinkles," is a micronutrient powder (MNP) containing essential vitamins and minerals that can be added directly to any semi-solid food at home. This "home-fortification" strategy was designed to overcome the limitations of traditional iron supplements, such as unpleasant taste and gastrointestinal side effects. SGHI collaborates with major international organizations like UNICEF and the World Health Organization to implement large-scale nutritional programs in resource-poor settings. Since its inception, the initiative has successfully scaled its intervention to over 30 countries, significantly reducing the prevalence of childhood anemia and mineral deficiencies.
