Sprout Group was a prominent venture capital firm, originally established in 1969 as the venture affiliate of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ) and later becoming part of Credit Suisse. The firm was a pioneer in healthcare and life sciences investing, managing several influential funds under the "Sprout Capital" name, including Sprout Capital VII, VIII, and IX. In the early 2000s, the firm shifted its focus exclusively to the healthcare sector before spinning off its healthcare investment team to form Sprout Healthcare Ventures. Throughout its history, Sprout Group was a major backer of numerous successful biotechnology, medical device, and healthcare technology companies, playing a critical role in the development of the modern life sciences industry.
