Company intelligence / Profile preview
Squibb Diagnostics was a prominent division of Bristol-Myers Squibb that specialized in the development and commercialization of diagnostic imaging agents. The company was a market leader in the radiology sector, known for its portfolio of contrast media including Isovue (iopamidol) and ProHance (gadoteridol). In 1994, Bristol-Myers Squibb sold the division to the Italian healthcare company Bracco S.p.A. for approximately 600 million dollars. This transaction led to the establishment of Bracco Diagnostics Inc. in the United States, which integrated Squibb's products and infrastructure. Today, the legacy of Squibb Diagnostics continues through the widely used imaging products now managed by Bracco. The sale marked a strategic shift for Bristol-Myers Squibb to focus on its core pharmaceutical business.
