Company intelligence / Profile preview
St. Vincent Medical Center was a historic tertiary care hospital located in Los Angeles, California, and was recognized as the city's first hospital. It was widely renowned for its specialized transplant institutes, including high-volume programs for kidney, liver, and heart transplants, as well as its comprehensive multi-organ transplant center. The facility served as a significant hub for clinical research and medical education until its closure in January 2020 following the bankruptcy of its parent company, Verity Health System. In April 2020, the medical center was acquired by the Chan Soon-Shiong Family Foundation to be repurposed for healthcare initiatives and research, briefly serving as the Los Angeles Surge Hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic.
