Company intelligence / Profile preview
StarMedTec was a German medical technology company focused on the development, manufacture, and commercialization of medical laser systems for minimally invasive surgical applications. Its products were used primarily in urology, including lithotripsy and benign prostatic hyperplasia procedures, and also in gynecology, gastroenterology, ENT, pneumology, orthopedics, and general surgery. The company was headquartered in Starnberg, Bavaria, and built a portfolio that included holmium and other surgical laser systems such as Auriga and Atair. StarMedTec was acquired by Boston Scientific in 2014 to complement Boston Scientific's urology and stone-management portfolio. It appears to have ceased operating as an independent company following the acquisition.
