Company intelligence / Profile preview
STEMI India is a pioneering not-for-profit organization and healthcare initiative dedicated to improving ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) care in India. Founded in 2011 by Dr. Thomas Alexander and Dr. Ajit S. Mullasari, the organization developed the 'STEMI India Model,' a context-specific, cost-effective hub-and-spoke system of care that connects primary health centers with tertiary care facilities equipped with catheterization labs. The model utilizes a proprietary handheld ECG and vital sign monitoring device to enable remote diagnosis by on-call cardiologists, facilitating rapid thrombolysis or primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Endorsed by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) as the National STEMI Protocol, STEMI India's framework has significantly reduced treatment delays and lowered mortality rates for heart attack patients across multiple Indian states.
