SteriFx was a biotechnology company that developed non-toxic, low pH antimicrobial solutions for the healthcare, food safety, and industrial sectors. The company's patented technology utilized hypertonic aqueous solutions of polybasic acid salts to effectively control a broad spectrum of pathogens, including bacteria, viruses, and fungi, without the use of traditional antibiotics. Its primary product lines, FreshFx and SYNTRx, were widely adopted in the food processing industry for the on-line reprocessing of poultry and meat to reduce microbial contamination and enhance safety. Beyond food safety, SteriFx targeted healthcare applications such as wound care and the prevention of surgical site infections. The company was headquartered in Shreveport, Louisiana, and was backed by venture capital firms including the Cycad Group. In November 2011, SteriFx was acquired by Synergy Technologies, which integrated the technology into its portfolio of antimicrobial interventions.
