Sterling Diagnostic Imaging was a prominent manufacturer of medical imaging systems and supplies, specializing in X-ray film and digital radiography solutions. The company was established in 1996 following the acquisition of DuPont's medical imaging business by the Sterling Group. It played a significant role in the healthcare industry's transition from analog film-based imaging to digital technologies, such as Direct Radiography (DR). Sterling's product line included advanced selenium-based digital detectors and healthcare information systems. In 1999, the company was acquired by Agfa-Gevaert for approximately $850 million, integrating its operations into Agfa's healthcare division.
