Sterling Foster Animal Health

Sterling-Winthrop Animal Health was the veterinary and livestock division of Sterling Drug, a major American pharmaceutical company. The division specialized in the development and commercialization of vaccines, parasiticides, and anti-infectives for both companion animals and livestock. Historically significant for its broad portfolio of veterinary medicines, the business was a key player in the global animal health market during the mid-20th century. In 1994, following the acquisition of Sterling-Winthrop by Sanofi and the subsequent divestiture of various units, the animal health business was integrated into Sanofi's animal health operations, which later merged with Merck's AgVet to form Merial.
