Steward Nashoba Valley Medical Center

Nashoba Valley Medical Center was a 57-bed community hospital located in Ayer, Massachusetts, and a member of the Steward Health Care System. The facility provided a wide range of healthcare services, including 24-hour emergency care, cardiac catheterization, diagnostic imaging, and surgical services. Following the bankruptcy filing of its parent company, Steward Health Care, in May 2024, the hospital failed to secure a buyer during the court-supervised sale process. Consequently, Nashoba Valley Medical Center officially ceased all operations and closed its doors on August 31, 2024. The closure ended decades of medical service to the Nashoba Valley region and resulted in the displacement of nearly 500 healthcare workers. Prior to its closure, the hospital was recognized for its high-quality care in areas such as orthopedics and geriatric psychiatry.
