STIMIT has developed a non-invasive device-based technology to stimulate the phrenic nerve and activate the diaphragm muscle, aiming to preserve or restore breathing function in critically ill patients on mechanical ventilation. The company’s lead product, "STIMIT Activator 1," received market approval as a Class II medical device for temporary phrenic nerve stimulation in Canada and has entered commercial use there. In the United States and Europe, it is undergoing pivotal clinical trials under an FDA Investigational Device Exemption to evaluate safety and effectiveness for preventing diaphragmatic atrophy/dysfunction. Initial clinical data have been collected with ongoing randomized controlled multi-center trials.
