Overview

The Strüngmann family office, primarily operating through Athos Service GmbH, is a preeminent investment vehicle in the life sciences sector, founded by Andreas and Thomas Strüngmann. The brothers gained international prominence after selling their generic drug giant, Hexal AG, to Novartis in 2005 for approximately $8.3 billion. Since then, they have become the most significant private investors in German biotechnology, most notably as the founding and lead investors in BioNTech. Their investment strategy focuses on long-term value creation in companies developing transformative therapies in oncology, infectious diseases, and immunology. They are widely recognized for providing patient capital that allows scientific founders to pursue ambitious, long-term research goals.
