Company intelligence / Profile preview
Stratagene was a U.S. biotechnology and life science tools company focused on developing, manufacturing, and marketing specialized research reagents, kits, instruments, software, and selected diagnostic products. Its offerings were used broadly in molecular biology, genomics, proteomics, drug discovery, toxicology, cellular analysis, cloning, DNA methylation analysis, cytogenomics, and real-time PCR workflows. The company also had a diagnostics business with products for urinalysis and allergy and autoimmune testing. Founded in 1984 and headquartered in La Jolla, California, Stratagene built a global commercial footprint before being acquired by Agilent Technologies in June 2007. After the acquisition, the business operated within Agilent's life sciences organization rather than as an independent public company.
