Company intelligence / Profile preview
Strathmann Biotec was a German contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) that specialized in the production of recombinant proteins using microbial expression systems. Based in Hamburg and Laupheim, the company provided a full suite of services including cell line development, process development, and GMP-compliant manufacturing for clinical and commercial use. In 2007, the company was acquired by Rentschler Biotechnologie (now Rentschler Biopharma), a move that significantly expanded Rentschler's microbial fermentation capabilities. Following the acquisition, Strathmann Biotec's facilities and expertise were integrated into Rentschler's operations, and the brand was eventually phased out. The parent company, Strathmann AG, remains active in the pharmaceutical market but no longer operates in the CDMO space.
