Columbia Laboratories, later known as Juniper Pharmaceuticals, was a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on developing and commercializing products in women's health and endocrinology using proprietary drug delivery technologies. The company is best known for developing Striant, an innovative mucoadhesive buccal system for testosterone replacement therapy, and Crinone, a progesterone gel. Their core competency involved the use of bioadhesive delivery systems to improve the pharmacokinetic profiles of hormonal therapies. Following a strategic pivot and rebranding to Juniper Pharmaceuticals in 2015, the company was eventually acquired by Catalent in 2018.
