Structural Genomix

Structural Genomix, which later rebranded as SGX Pharmaceuticals, was a biotechnology company focused on structure-guided drug discovery primarily in the field of oncology. The company utilized a proprietary platform called FAST (Fragment-based Analysis and Structural Targets) alongside high-throughput X-ray crystallography to identify and optimize small molecule leads. Their clinical pipeline included SGX-523, a selective MET inhibitor for solid tumors, and SGX-393, targeting BCR-ABL for leukemia. The company's approach aimed to accelerate the transition from protein target to clinical candidate by visualizing drug-target interactions at the atomic level. In 2008, Eli Lilly acquired the company for approximately $64 million to bolster its oncology research and structural biology capabilities.
