Subject Matter Public Affairs

Subject Matter was a Washington, D.C.-based public affairs, strategic communications, government relations, and advertising firm formed in 2015 through the merger of Elmendorf | Ryan and Home Front Communications. The firm served clients across sectors including public health, finance, education, technology, transportation, and communications, and described its offering as "creative advocacy." In 2023, Subject Matter merged with Kivvit to form Subject Matter+Kivvit, and in January 2024 the combined organization rebranded as Avoq. It was not a biotech, pharma, or healthcare operating company, although it supported some healthcare and public health clients through communications and advocacy services.
