Overview
Lead program STX-001, an oral small molecule inhibitor of Activin receptor type II (ACTRII), has demonstrated preclinical efficacy in diet-induced obese mice, showing significant fat loss and preservation or increase of lean body mass; additional benefit observed in combination with GLP-1 agonists. Not yet entered clinical trials. Based on published studies (using monoclonal antibodies, not Supercede's molecules), ACTRII inhibition can significantly reduce fat while stimulating increases in muscle mass in patients with obesity[2][3][4].
