Supercentenarian Research Foundation

The Supercentenarian Research Foundation (SRF) is a non-profit scientific organization dedicated to the biogerontological study of individuals who have reached the age of 110 or older. Founded in 2004, the foundation aims to uncover the biological mechanisms that allow supercentenarians to escape or significantly delay age-related diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, and neurodegeneration. SRF works in close partnership with the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) to validate the ages of these rare individuals and collect biological samples, including DNA and tissue, for advanced genomic and proteomic analysis. The foundation's research, which includes systematic autopsy studies, seeks to identify longevity-associated genetic variants and biomarkers that could lead to the development of therapies to extend the healthy human lifespan. By studying the most successfully aged humans, SRF provides a unique resource for understanding the limits of human biology and the potential for medical interventions in the aging process.
