Supportive Care of the Dying Coalition

The Supportive Care Coalition, originally established in 1994 as Supportive Care of the Dying: A Coalition for Compassionate Care, was a national membership organization focused on advancing excellence in palliative care within Catholic health systems. Based in Hillsboro, Oregon, the coalition was founded by several major Catholic healthcare providers to improve the quality of life for patients facing serious illness through education, advocacy, and the integration of spiritual care. The organization developed clinical guidelines, educational programs, and resources for healthcare professionals to address the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the dying. In January 2021, the coalition was formally integrated into the Catholic Health Association of the United States (CHA), where its mission continues as a core component of CHA's palliative care initiatives.
