Suppremol

Suppremol was a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing novel treatments for autoimmune diseases and allergies. Spun off from the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry, the company specialized in soluble Fc-gamma receptors (sFcRs) that modulate the immune system by neutralizing autoantibodies and immune complexes. Its lead candidate, SM101, was a recombinant soluble Fc-gamma receptor IIB that demonstrated proof-of-concept in Phase 2 trials for primary immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). The company was acquired by Baxter International in 2015 to bolster its immunology portfolio. The technology was originally based on the research of Nobel laureate Prof. Robert Huber.
