SurgiMab’s lead product SGM‑101, an antibody-fluorophore conjugate targeting CEA, has shown in a Phase 2 trial that it can detect residual and otherwise invisible tumor tissue during surgery. The use of SGM‑101 led to modification of surgery in about one-third of patients with recurrent or peritoneal metastases of colorectal cancer by enabling more aggressive resection or preservation of healthy tissue. The pivotal Phase 3 trial in colorectal cancer patients was ongoing as of the latest reports.
