The company rose to prominence during the COVID-19 pandemic when its data was used in influential studies published in The Lancet and the New England Journal of Medicine regarding hydroxychloroquine and cardiovascular health. These studies were retracted after independent auditors were unable to verify the raw data, sparking a major scandal in the scientific community. The company's primary product was the QuartzClinical platform, which was marketed as a machine learning tool for hospital efficiency. Following the retractions, Surgisphere's operations ceased and its online presence was removed.
