Suros Surgical Systems was a medical technology company specializing in the development of minimally invasive vacuum-assisted breast biopsy devices. The company's flagship product, the ATEC (Automated Tissue Excision and Collection) system, provided a faster and more compassionate alternative to traditional surgical biopsies by allowing for multiple tissue samples through a single small incision. Suros also developed various biopsy markers and access tools to enhance the accuracy of breast cancer diagnosis. In 2006, the company was acquired by Hologic, a leader in women's health, to bolster its interventional breast health portfolio. Today, the technology developed by Suros remains a core component of Hologic's breast biopsy offerings.
