Swerea was a Swedish group of industrial research institutes that provided contract research, development, and testing services across multiple sectors, including life sciences and healthcare. The group's medical technology expertise was primarily concentrated within Swerea IVF, which focused on biomaterials, medical devices, and advanced textiles for healthcare applications. Swerea served as a critical link between academic research and industrial application, supporting the development of implants and surgical instruments. In October 2018, the organization underwent a major reorganization where the majority of its operations were integrated into RISE Research Institutes of Sweden. This transition aimed to consolidate Swedish research resources into a single, unified national institute.
